News in its simple form means a report of recent events, previously unknown information or something having a specified influence or effect. It also means material reported in a newspaper or news periodical or on a newscast, as well as meaning a matter that is newsworthy. News can be determined from a whole host of different media - magazines, newspapers, the Internet, television and radio. The increase in news cable and satellite channels means that we are able to access news, not just regional and national, but also news around the world as it happens, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A large amount of news is concentrated on world affairs and politics. The terms 'news' was reportedly developed as a special use of the plural form of 'new' in the 14th century. There is another theory that the word, phonetically and its written style, is based upon the Germanic word 'neues'. As news is event-oriented it only becomes newsworthy because it happens to a group of people, or the event affects a large portion of the population. Other times, an event is newsworthy because the person or people involved have been deemed newsworthy by the public and by the media. | ![]() Categories: 16 Subcategories: 222 Total: 1074 Pending: 0 Today: 0 ![]() |
